NorthPointe Dance Academy teachers have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Offering many years of dance experience, each staff member demonstrates passion and dedication to dance in their area of expertise. Students of all ages will benefit from the varied styles and experience of each teacher.
Barbara Coman: (Artistic Director)
Barb has been teaching dance to children of all ages for over 30 years. She was a dance major at Kent State University and Ohio State University and has trained extensively in NYC and Chicago. She is an accomplished choreographer having won many national championships from 1988 to the present. She was a finalist in the Jazz Dance World Congress Gus Giordano Choreography Competition that included professional companies from all over the U.S. and abroad. Barb has trained dancers from the national TV show “Star Search” to Broadway to the Radio City Rockettes. She’s a certified teacher by Dance Masters of America and enjoys teaching pre-school as well as pre-professional dancers. She remains active in all areas of dance and continues to study across the U.S. Barb has, for seventeen very successful years, directed NorthPointe. NDA is known as the studio that sets the “Standard for Excellence” in the Central Ohio area and is one of the top fifty dance schools in the country.
Tricia Reynolds: (Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pre-School)
Tricia began dancing when she was three years old. She was fortunate to train at NDA with Barb Coman and a wonderful teaching staff. Tricia won numerous regional and national competitions and scholarships with her groups, duets/trios and solos. She danced off-Broadway with the original Break the Floor production at NYC’s Fringe Festival. Tricia has trained with numerous choreographers including Gil Stroming, Laurie Kanyok, Mike Minery, Joe Lanteri, Suzi Taylor, Mia Michaels, Mark Meismer, Danny Wallace, Savion Glover, Tracy Stanfield, Stephanie Campbell and Nick Bass. Tricia was a football and basketball cheerleader at Otterbein College, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2009 with a B.S. degree in Business Management. She is a certified teacher by Dance Masters of America. She is also the Director of our Junior Competitive Team. Tricia is excited to begin her eleventh full year of teaching NorthPointe’s enthusiastic and talented students; she is looking forward to continuing to inspire all NorthPointe dancers with a love of the art! Tricia and her husband, Jimmy, who is a veterinarian, reside in Delaware with their two beautiful daughters, Rylan and Reese.
Dina Meier: (Ballet)
Dina began her training under the tutelage of E. Virginia Williams, founder and Artistic Director of Boston Ballet, at Boston Ballet School. She was the youngest member accepted into North Shore Civic Ballet Company, of Marblehead, MA. Dina performed with North Shore Civic Ballet and Boston Ballet Company through 1985, performing in a number of ballets, including contemporary original choreography, and the classics Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Bournonville’s Konservatoriet. Furthering her education, she studied at Boston Conservatory of Music, while also performing with North Atlantic Ballet Company, of Gloucester, MA. Dina and her husband John are the very proud parents of a teenage daughter, Teddie.
Jessica Lee: (Pre-School, Ballet, Lyrical, Jazz)
Jessica began her dance training in Palm Beach, Florida. She trained for two years with the Miami City Ballet under Francia Kulchar and Roma Sosenko. The Balanchine style quickly became her favorite. She studied at multiple summer dance workshops including: The Walnut Hill School and the Jillana School. A number of her summer vacations were spent in Columbus at Ballet Met where she learned choreography from Stanton Welch and technique from Yoko Ichino. Jessica was a member of the Pre Professional Program at Ballet Met. After performing with Miami City Ballet, Ballet Met, and Palm Beach Ballet, Jessica decided her passion was for teaching. She taught for two years in Palm Beach Gardens and has been at NorthPointe ever since. She is looking forward to continuing to share her love of dance here at NorthPointe.
Stephanie Jarret: (Hip-Hop, Jazz, Lyrical)
Stephanie began dancing at the age of three, studying ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and lyrical. She danced competitively and has been a part of many award-winning routines. In 2001, Stephanie traveled to Europe where she performed in the Tansomer Festival. Stephanie graduated from The Ohio State University in 2005 with a BA in Psychology and minor in Dance. While at OSU, Stephanie was a member of The Ohio State University Dance Team. She competed nationally with the dance team and in 2003, was recognized as a National Dance Alliance, Collegiate All-American. Stephanie was head coach of The Ohio State University Dance team from 2007-2009. Under Stephanie’s direction, the OSU Dance Team finished in the top 5 in both 2008 and 2009 at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championship. Stephanie has been teaching at NorthPointe Dance Academy since 2008. In addition to teaching dance, Stephanie went on to further her education and has earned a Middle Grades (4-9) teaching licensure through Ashland University. She is certified in Math and English/Language Arts and is currently an 8th grade English teacher at Olentangy Orange Middle School. Stephanie is very proud to be a part of NDA’s incredible teaching staff. She is grateful to have the opportunity to share her love of dance with her students.
Zoica Tovar: (Ballet)
Zoica began her ballet training at the age of nine at the Alejo Campentier ballet school in Cuba. She was later accepted at Ballet Clasico de la Havana under the direction of Laura Alonso. Her talent and her dedication to the profession allowed her to become a principal ballerina. Her achievements include a silver medal in the Alicia Alonso competition in Cuba and a silver medal in Brazil. Some of the roles she has performed include Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Kitri and Mercedes in Don Quixote, and many others. In 1998 Zoica joined Orlando Ballet as principal ballerina, under the direction of Fernando Bujones. She has also performed the works of choreographers such as Twyla Tharp, Fernando Bujones, Val Caniparoli, Lila York, Salimm Galows, David Parson, Bruce Marks, David Nixon and many others. In 2007 Zoica received the Sun Award Spanish Chamber of Commerce Metro Orlando for her dedication and contribution to the art in Orlando. In 2009 Zoica joined BalletMet under the direction of Gerard Charles. Zoica has recently retired from Ballet Met and is very excited to continue her career in ballet with our students here at NorthPointe.
Andres Estevez: (Ballet)
Andres began his training in Havana, Cuba, and later joined Ballet Nacional de Cuba under the direction of Alicia Alonso. He was a principal dancer with Ballet Clasico de la Havana under the direction of Laura Alonso. His career includes international tours and guest appearances as well as gold, silver and bronze medals in competitions in Cuba and Brazil. In 1996, Mr. Estevez traveled to the U.S. and joined Miami City Ballet where he performed many works from George Balanchine. In 1998, he joined Orlando Ballet as a principal dancer under the direction of Fernando Bujones and danced roles including Albretch in Giselle, Franz in Coppelia, Basilo in Don Quixote, solo in Bayadere and many works from Twyla Tharp and Bruce Marck. In 2009 he joined BalletMet and received the 2010 Violetta Boft Award and performed roles like Oberon in Mid Summer Night Dream, Don Jose and Escamillo in Carmen and many others. He has been teaching ballet for 10 years and is looking forward to sharing his love of ballet with our dancers at NorthPointe.
Sarah Anaya (Ballet)
Sarah is originally from Memphis Tennessee, and has been dancing since she was nine years old. She began her ballet training under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She has had the wonderful opportunity of receiving Cuban classical ballet training with Magaly Suarez at the Art of Classical Ballet. Sarah joined the Washington Ballet Company at the age of eighteen. While with the Washington ballet Sarah was fortunate to work alongside choreographers such as Septime Webre, Kirk Peterson, Mimmo Miccoli, and Tamas Krizsa. In 2015 Sarah joined BalletMet under the direction of Edwaard Liang. While dancing with BalletMet, highlights of performing include Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Edwaard Liang’s “Murmuration”, and various George Balanchine ballets. Sarah has recently retired from BalletMet and is looking forward to continuing her career as a ballet teacher for the students at NorthPointe.
Emily Considine: (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Pre-School)
Emily has focused most of her life on dance training and dance education. She has been with NDA since 2003. Emily grew up outside Pittsburgh, PA where she discovered her passion for dance while studying various dance forms. Emily graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art from The Ohio State University, with her focus on dance performance. She furthered her dance training by studying at the University of the Arts and attended workshops taught by artists such as Al Gilvert, Gus Giordano, Rhonda Miller and Finish Jhung. In addition to teaching dance, Emily went on to further education, and received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from The Ohio State University. In addition to happily spending her time at NorthPointe, she is a teacher for Westerville City Schools and a proud parent of daughter, Aaliyah.
Katie Holland: (Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Creative, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Pre-School)
Katie is from Pickerington and has been dancing since she was three years old. She began dancing competitively at the age of eight. She has won numerous regional scholarships from LA Dance Force, New York City Dance Alliance, and Jump/Nuvo. Her scholarships have sent her to The Edge in California and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Katie has trained under several of the industries best choreographers including Gregg Russell, Travis Wall, Stacey Tookey, Dee Caspary, Lauren Adams, Anthony Russo, Donovan Helma, Danny Wallace, Joe Lanteri, Mike Minery, Joey Dowling, Jacki Dowling Ford, Mia Michaels, and Nick Bass. Katie is a Pickerington North High School graduate and was a cheerleader for her school. Katie lives in Brecksville, Ohio where her husband is a fourth year Podiatry student. Katie is very excited to begin her second year teaching at Northpointe!
Christina Haskins: (Lyrical, Ballet, Tap, Jazz)
Christina has been teaching dance for fifteen years. Christina began her dance training at the age of three in New York. She trained at the Rochester City Ballet, as well as fifteen years at her local dance studio. Christina was part of the Tremaine Dance Company and was fortunate to travel all over the United States performing and assistant teaching with many teachers such as Wade Robson, Doug Caldwell, Joelle Martinec, Desire Robinson, and Keri LaGrand. Christina has held the title of Regional Senior Outstanding Dancer for New York City Dance Alliance and has worked with the faculty of N.Y.C.D.A. Christina was also awarded the title of Miss Dance of Western New York. Outside of dance, Christina works in the NICU as a nurse. Christina, her husband Kyle and two children Audrey and Owen have recently moved to Columbus from New York. She is very excited to start teaching with all the wonderful and talented dancers and faculty at NorthPointe Dance Academy. She is looking forward to inspiring students to believe in themselves and to become the best dancers they can be.
Crystal Gibney: (Pre-School, Jazz, Tap)
Crystal has been teaching at NorthPointe Dance Academy since 2000. She graduated from Columbus StateCommunity College with an Associates of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development in September2009. Crystal is planning to work on her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Early Intervention. Crystal and her husband, Kyle, have 2 daughters, Lily and Arya Addison. Crystal is very excited to be involved in NorthPointe and looks forward to another successful year.
SaraBeth Collins: (Tap, Jazz)
SaraBeth began dancing at Kelly’s School of Dance (now known as Gel’s Dance Centre) in Parkersburg, WV, where she competitively danced in national award winning small and large groups. In 2000, she traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii to perform in the NFL Pro Bowl as part of a selected group of dancers. SaraBeth graduated from Otterbein College in 2007 with a B.A. in Business Administration/Marketing concentration and a minor in Dance. She participated in Dance Concerts under the direction of Stella Kane, workshops and distinction projects. During her four years at Otterbein College, she studied ballet, jazz, tap, modern and musical theatre. She was a Varsity Football and Basketball Cheerleader and a member of Sigma Alpha Tau Sorority. She is employed with Worthington Steel as an Inside Sales Representative and the Sales Training Coordinator. SaraBeth is very excited to begin her third year at NorthPointe!
SaraBeth and her husband, Matt, just welcomed a daughter, Ava, to their family in June of 2016.
Lisa House: (Tap, Jazz, Preschool)
Lisa is excited to be coming home to NDA. She began dancing at the age of five and, along with Miss Crystal, was in the very first graduating class from NorthPointe Dance Academy. Throughout college, she taught dance while completing her B.A. & S. degree in Mass Communications from Ohio State in 2004. She then went on to teach in the South Dayton area while her husband finished school. She has trained in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical and hip hop. Lisa and her husband Steve have two daughters, Lauren and Brooklyn. She is so excited to be back and is eager to share her love of dance with your children. Lisa was appointed the Community Outreach Director for NDA in 2016, and works to ensure NorthPointe’s continued involvement in the community.
Lindsey Lauber: (Ballet, Preschool, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz)
Lindsey began dancing when she was only two and a half years old. Barb Coman was her very first dance teacher and Lindsey continued as a student in many of Barb’s classes every year throughout her dancing years. As a NorthPointe dancer, Lindsey won numerous regional and national competition awards with her groups, duets/trios and solos. She attended many dance conventions and workshops as a scholarship student and attended a Summer Dance Intensive at Broadway Dance Centre in New York City. She has trained with numerous professional choreographers including Michelle Assaf, Joey Dowling, Gus Giordano, Frank Hatchett, Stepp Stewart, Leslie Browne, Mia Michaels, and more. Lindsey is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Lindsey and her husband, Matt, Have 2 daughters, Quinn and Collins.

Angela Shamell: (Theatre, Acting)
Angela holds a BFA from the Ohio State University and an MFA from the University of Virginia. She teaches acting and stage combat for private students. She teaches drama for the Ohio Dominican University and is the academic advisor for the student-run theater group, The Panther Players. She costumes, directs and teaches for Columbus Children’s Theatre. She teaches and choreographs stage violence for local theatres. She was last seen acting as Roxanne in “Cyrano de Bergerac” for Actors Theatre, for which she won a Theatre Roundtable, Best Acting Award. Her last directing project was “School House Rock” for Columbus Children’s Theatre. She will be playing Ariel in the Tempest for Actors’ Theatre and directing Cinderella: A Hip Hop Fairytale for Columbus Children’s Theatre. She is excited to begin her fourth year teaching at NorthPointe.
Stephanie Cea: (Acro)
Stephanie grew up dancing in Phoenix, AZ. She has over 20+ years of teaching experience. During her time as a dancer, she won numerous regional and national awards, including a prestigious dance scholarship to STEPS on Broadway in NYC! During college she worked for NCA Danz, leading summer dance camps throughout the nation. She toured with NCA for five years, three of them serving as head instructor. She has performed in Tokyo, Japan at a JSDA camp, and Super Bowl XXX with Diana Ross. Stephanie continues to attend dance workshops and train from master teachers and choreographers. She has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from ASU and loves working with children. Stephanie and her husband moved to Ohio in 2010 with their three fun-loving children Isabella, Nicholas and Olivia.
Claudia Fernandez (Ballet)
Claudia Fernandez was born in La Habana , Cuba. She began her ballet training at the Cuban National Ballet School at the age of nine, training with prestigious teachers like Fernando Alonso, Mirta Hermida, Ramona de Zaa, Loipa Araujo and others. In 2005, she moved to Chile where she continued her training at Teatro Municipal de Chile School and Facultad de Artes, at the University of Chile. Claudia was a stand out soloist in roles for the Ballet Juvenil directed by Hilda Riveros and Vladimir Guelbet. In 2009, Claudia became a dancer at the Ballet de Santiago under the direction of Marcia Haydee where she was awarded the title of Best Performer in Dance. In the United States, she has danced with Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, Oregon Ballet Theatre and is currently a company member at BalletMet. Claudia also judges international dance competitions and teaches at BalletMet. She is excited to begin her second year teaching for NorthPointe Dance Academy and looks forward to another great season.
Alexis Edmonds (Preschool, Hip-Hop)
Alexis is excited for her first full year at NorthPointe as a teacher! She started dance when she was two years old. Alexis began competitive dance at the age of eight with Dance Masters of Pennsylvania. Alexis taught at her former studio in Wheeling, WV for over 10 years. She loves acrobatics and tap but is also trained in ballet, jazz, and lyrical. She had the honor of representing her high school as a “Queen of Queens” pageant contestant as well as dance the role of the “Rat King” in her studios performances of The Nutcracker. Alexis graduated from Ohio Dominican University with her BSE in Early Childhood Education. She and her husband John reside in Delaware with their two children, Hollis and Leland.
Alex Corron (Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Preschool)
Alex began dancing competitively at the age of 8 in Nashville, TN. After moving to Columbus at age 12, she immediately joined NorthPointe’s small and large group companies. During her time at NDA, Alex trained under many choreographers including Nick Bass, Travis Wall, Mia Michaels and more. Alex began assistant teaching and working for NorthPointe during high school. She graduated from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business with a B.S. in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and a minor in Design in 2014. She taught at NorthPointe for several years during college, and returned to us for our 2016-2017 school year! Alex and her husband, Jason, own and manage their own marketing and creative agency, and they reside in Upper Arlington with their daughter, Giana, and their two dogs.
Jordan Hallman (Ballet, Lyrical)
Jordan originally began her training under the direction of Tony Calucci and Kate Lalonde locally in Ohio. Throughout her high school years, she danced with the pre-professional company The Collaborative Dance Project performing in classical ballet works and contemporary pieces. During this time, she was privileged to work closely with notable professional dancers and choreographers, such as Zelima Bustillo, Tercell Waters, Angelina Grima-Familiar and many others. Later, she moved to train at the Pittsburg Ballet Theatre under academy directors Marjorie Grundvig and Dennis Marshall. She was able to perform in not only classical ballets, but original works with the academy. She was later accepted into their Graduate Program. Jordan was also fortunate to be able to spend her summers at intensives with the Joffery Ballet School, BalletMet, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. Jordan is very excited to start her first year teaching at NorthPointe!
Natalia Hagee (Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop)
Natalia grew up here in Powell, Ohio and attended Olentangy Liberty High School. She started dance when she was 3 years old, and has been dancing throughout her college career for her sorority dance team. Natalia started dancing at NorthPointe Dance Academy when she was 14 years old and danced competitively until she graduated high school in 2013. Natalia’s passion is tap dancing, but she has also trained in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, modern, hip hop, and pointe. Natalia not only danced at NDA, but also joined our teaching family as a junior in high school to help with the special needs dance class held weekly. Natalia is fortunate to have not moved far from our NorthPointe family as her little sister, Tatiana, is still a competitive dancer at our studio. She gladly still attends all of our recitals and dance competitions to support her NDA family. Natalia is currently attending The Ohio State University, where she is working to achieve her baccalaureate degree in Dental Hygiene. She looks forward to working with all of the wonderful dancers this coming year!
Christina Taylor (Worship Dance)
Christina began her dance training at age six. Christina spent her school-aged years training with many well known Columbus area studios. She trained at Fort Hayes Performing Arts high school and as a concurrent student at The Ohio State University. Upon graduation Christina made the long move to Florida State University to continue her dance training with focus on Ballet, Modern, Performance and Choreography. Christina danced with the FSU performance company. Upon graduation Christina moved to Atlanta Georgia where she danced professionally for three years. Since then Christina has been a dance educator in the Columbus area. With a culmination of over twenty five years of teaching and choreographic experience. In 2005 Christina had the opportunity to dance for her church. She discovered her passion, purpose and calling was to move with that type of love and passion known as Worship Dance. From there Christina founded The Movement Mission; A group of adult dancers who move to be moved. The groups purpose is to raise funds and awareness for Melanoma in the memory of a dear friend who lost her battle. Christina is looking forward to sharing her passion for Worship Dance with young adults!
Danielle Rajca (Acro)
Danielle is from Long Beach, California and has been active in gymnastics, dance and contortionist acts since she was 5 years old. Danielle trained with the American Gymnastics Academy. She taught acrobatics/gymnastics for the local YMCA. Danielle is a 2011 High School graduate and moved to Lewis Center in 2016 where she began assistant teaching for NorthPointe and also became part of the office staff. She has a 6 month old son, Sawyer, who is the apple of her eye and is very excited to begin teaching at NDA!
